CAFRE lameness events are underway

The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) is hosting a series of on farm events for sheep farmers focusing on lameness and other key autumn flock management decisions. Management decisions have been made more complicated and challenging this year given the difficult weather conditions farmers have faced over the past three months.
On Thursday 7th September, there was a large turnout at the farm of Andrew Wilson in Moria.
Following the event Gregory Hamill from Crumlin said, “Attending the lameness event has been very beneficial, discussions with the CAFRE adviser, Jason Barley (AFBI) and Andrew, the host farmer were particularly informative. I have learnt several methods of how to prevent and control lameness within the flock, as well as the financial implications. There are a lot of excellent take-home messages from the talks that I can apply on my own farm. I would recommend the farm walks to all sheep farmers.”
