Further Education Funding Support

CAFRE is part of the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) and students enrolled on Further Education courses at CAFRE are eligible to apply for means tested funding through DAERA.

Tuition fees for students on Further Education courses at CAFRE will be paid in full by DAERA.

Further Education Grants are administered by the Education Authority on behalf of DAERA. Students applying to study on a full-time or part-time Further Education course at CAFRE should therefore apply to the Education Authority for financial support.

Full-time courses:

The main source of funding you may be eligible to receive is the Living Expenses Grant . It is means tested and available to students living in Northern Ireland. You can apply for a full-time Further Education Grant from May 2023 onwards. You should apply as soon as you apply to a course. Do not wait for your exam results.

The maximum amount of living expenses grant for:

• Students living in Campus Halls of Residence or in lodgings is £3,400

• Students living in their parental home is £2,400

The Living Expenses Grant is based on an assessment of your household income. The Education Authority will carry out the assessment to determine whether a Grant will be awarded.

Part-time courses:

The main source of funding you may be eligible to receive is the course grant. It is means tested and available to students living in Northern Ireland. You can apply for a part-time Further Education Grant from May 2023 onwards. You should apply as soon as you apply to a course.

The amount of part-time grant you may be eligible to receive is £200 or £400 depending on your income.
