Greenkeeping and Golf Academy
The Sportsturf sector benefits from the eleven hectares devoted to playing fields and greenkeeping on the campus. The facilities provide a diverse range of turf types for training students to adapt turf care to meet the wear and tear demands of sport rather than ornamental lawns.
Students are introduced to the latest technologies to support turf maintenance through machinery, irrigation, nutrition and pest and disease control. Robotic technology is used to cut the sports pitches and to collect golf balls. The Golf Academy includes an eight-bay driving range, a range of short game practice areas, as well as three complete holes, including water hazards and bunkers. The rough and surrounding woodland is maintained sustainably and to promote biodiversity.
The academy offers a golf coaching/driving range complex, unique contoured driving range, practice chipping and putting greens and a playable three hole golf course incorporating many different bunker styles and water features.
