Equitation
The equitation facilities at CAFRE Enniskillen Campus provide an outstanding environment for equestrian training, education and horse management. Designed to support CAFRE’s practical learning approach, the facilities enable students to develop riding and horse management skills in a safe and professional environment.
The main equitation yard features 22 individual stables, strategically positioned to support safe teaching practices and effective student learning. The unit is home to a diverse range of horses selected to meet the requirements of practical teaching across a variety of riding abilities and disciplines.
At the centre of the yard, a large interactive screen is used to support practical classes, demonstrations and group instruction. Students and staff also have access to a fully equipped tack and rug room, as well as a central cross-tie bay with solarium heater and a portable weighbridge.
Located adjacent to the equitation yard are extensive riding and training facilities, including indoor and outdoor arenas with spectator viewing areas, a horse walker, wash bay, lunge pen, hacking track, parade ring and cross-country schooling area. These facilities enable the delivery of a wide range of practical riding, training and horse management activities throughout the academic year.
Students also benefit from access to the Rider Performance Suite, which is integrated into equitation teaching and supports the development of riding technique, performance and overall equestrian skills.
Together, these facilities provide students with extensive opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings, preparing them for careers across the equine industry and supporting progression into coaching, training, competition and equine management careers.
