Lawnmower and strimmer maintenance for supervisors

This course is aimed at supervisors on site who oversee the practical work of staff or volunteers under their supervision. The course is intended to give an understanding of and a level of proficiency in the safe maintenance of pedestrian operated lawnmowers and strimmers.

Who is  the course for?

It is expected that candidates for this course will already hold certificates of competence in the safe use of lawnmowers, such as those awarded by LANTRA or by NPTC.

Course Content

Manufacturers’ service recommendations, PPE, manual handling, use of service tools, 2 and 4 stroke engines, types of lubricant, fuel mixtures, air filter systems, ignition systems, types of spark plug, waste disposal, rotary and cylinder cutting mechanisms, nylon line mechanisms, safe stop procedures, fault recognition, PUWER, HSAW.
