Farriery Upskilling Extension Course

The Farriery Upskilling Extension Course is intended for farriers who have completed the Farriery Upskilling Programme at Enniskillen Campus. The course is designed to assist farriers who want to further develop their skills post completion of the full upskilling course.

The course is delivered over two days per month and students attend forge work and classroom session. The places are limited; therefore, priority will be given to recent students.

Learners are expected to attend six days at Enniskillen Campus: Normally Wednesday and Thursday once per month.

Course content – Main areas of study:
  • Equine anatomy
  • Equine conformation
  • Equine dynamics and movement
  • Limb physiology
  • Injuries and ailments affecting the foot/limb
  • Forging skills
  • Production and fit of horse shoes
  • Business and IT skills (online)
Course Entry Requirements

Applicants must have completed the Farrier Upskilling Programme at Enniskillen Campus prior to applying for this course and hold GCSE subjects Mathematics and English at Grade C or higher or equivalent.
