Tree Nursery Operative

Papervale Trees are a specialist tree nursery based outside Rathfriland, Co. Down.  We are a family run business supplying trees to customers across the UK & IRL, growing over 300 varieties of home-grown ​containerized trees grown in peat free compost. 

We are recruiting for a Tree nursery operative. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a Tree nursery setting in Northern Ireland with sustainable growing at the core of our business.

We grow a wide range of trees, supplying customers both on the nursery and online, with a tree planting service also available.  Over the last couple of years, we have seen significant growth in our business and due to this we are looking to expand our team.

We are looking for a hard-working, driven person who can work to their own initiative.  They will work closely with the owners to manage stock, monitor spacing, irrigation and pests and diseases management.  The successful candidate must be motivated, have a keen eye for detail and work well in a team. Training will be provided, but preferably the ideal candidate would have previous Nursery experience and have IT skills.

Daily jobs can range from stock management including potting, watering, plant moving, responsible for order processing and prepping, tree picking, box packing, tree planting and much more.

We are looking for a hardworking, reliable candidate with good timekeeping that can commit to a 5 day working week. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.

Your duties will include (but not limited to):

• Stock management
• Pruning
• Taking cuttings
• Hand-weeding
• Order Processing
• Packaging finished products
• Full Training provided

Work can take place in all weathers, and involves indoor and outdoor working, heavy lifting also required.

Working independently and as part of a team

The ability to work in a flexible and adaptable manner is an absolute necessity for this role

Hours: 40hrs per week Mon-Fri 8am-4.30pm

Desirable criteria

• Computer proficiency (MS Office – word, excel outlook)
• ·Driving Licence

Essential criteria

• Minimum Level 3 Horticulture certificate
• Minimum 6 months previous experience within a Horticulture setting
• Spray Certificates
