Join an enthusiastic team and help to maintain and develop the wonderful gardens of Hillsborough Castle. The grounds of Hillsborough are undergoing major work to enhance the beauty of this site even further with 20 different character areas identified.

Hillsborough Castle and Gardens are inviting applications from students currently studying Foundation Degree or Level 3 Extended Diploma in horticulture and require a placement as part of their studies.

If you have a positive, proactive and enthusiastic attitude then this is the role for you. Applicants for this role will be supporting the rest of the Gardens and Estates team, taking on a variety of different tasks. Working in a small team and with a keen eye for detail you will have a passion for gardening and will be keen to gain experience working in prestigious gardens. You will have the opportunity to build on professional all round knowledge of garden maintenance tasks and gain an understanding of what it means to provide a 5 Star service to our visitors.

The gardens are varied including topiary, lawn care, seasonal bedding and herbaceous borders, and a productive vegetable garden.   The successful candidate will be positive, team focused and competent in using a range of horticultural machinery, for example hedge trimmers, lawn mowers and strimmers. Applicants must be able to provide the highest level of garden and estate maintenance also while maintaining a safe, clean and secure working environment.

The availability to work weekends and Bank holidays is essential. Level 3 students will not be expected to start until May.

Pay Range: PR NI 12.1 £17,410 per annum pro-rata
