This role will impact on the success of our Bakery through the effective management, monitoring, control and recording of the high standards of hygiene and housekeeping on the Bakery site, while complying with site food safety, authenticity, legality and quality requirements.

The role will ensure:

  • Production processes are monitored to ensure food safety standards are met.
  • Develop and continual improvement of our Company Quality Systems and Procedures.
  • Forwards and backwards traceability of all raw materials from goods inwards to despatch.
  • Records completed and filed for retrieval for traceability and due diligence purposes.
  • Reporting any out of specification raw materials, products, equipment or food contact packaging to enable resolution of issues.
  • Follow up of corrective actions to ensure root cause analysis has been put in place.
  • Internal audits conducted as per schedule, with any non-conformities being highlighted and corrective actions agreed and documented.
  • GMP procedures and practices are effective and in place; start up checks, baked core temperatures, metal detection, calibration checks.
  • All machinery, equipment, storage and manufacturing areas meet the strict standards of hygiene.
  • Customer complaint investigations including corrective actions to prevent recurrence and trend analysis on a weekly basis.
  • Conduct daily sensory analysis and completion of appropriate paperwork.
  • Engagement with all staff to ensure the companies policies and procedures are fully understood and followed.
  • Bakery compiles with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, local authorities.
  • Prepare and assist with customer and third party audits.
  • Support given to the Senior Management team with continuous improvement ideas.

Essential Criteria:

  • Possess strong communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail with proven problem solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and able to work on your own initiative.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Flexible approach to working hours.

Desirable Criteria:

  • HND / BSc Food Technology Qualification or equivalent.
  • Level 3 Food Safety Qualification.
  • Level 3 HACCP Qualification.
  • BRC / SALSA third party accreditation experience.
  • 1 year Bakery / Factory experience.
  • Train The Trainer.

Fast paced working environment. Flexibility is required. Onsite training is provided and there is scope for individual growth within the company.

Salary: From £14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 – 30 per week

Ability to commute/relocate: Newtownabbey, BT36 5RZ: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
