Wafer is a family run business established in 1989. We started life as a manufacturer and supplier of quality ice cream wafer products but over the years we have expanded to incorporate all areas of the ice cream industry.

Wafer are currently recruiting a Permanent Quality Technician within our site at Derry/Londonderry. The Quality Technician will become part of a successful family run business that have been in business for over 35 years.

The successful candidate will report directly to our Quality Manager and will be responsible for ensuring that all developed products will meet both the customer and company standards for conformance with food safety standards.

Please see below desirable:

  • BSc Hons Degree in Food Technology, Food Science or equivalent
  • Desirable but not essential – one year’s placement within the food industry
  • Working knowledge of HACCP
  • Understanding or Experience of quality audit system like SALSA, BRC , ISO etc..
  • Full drivers’ licence
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good organisation and time management skills
  • The ability to work both independently an alongside other departments.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Proactively promoting and implementing the SALSA Standard within the workplace
  • Auditing the site against the Quality System in place. Identifying and detailing the findings to the relevant departments.
  • Following up on non-conformances to ensure that preventative and corrective actions are in place prior to submission to the quality department.
  • To assist with the training of staff and generation of SOPs and training documents.
