You will have the opportunity to develop strong skillset within the NPD department, understanding all elements of the initial product development.

The Job

  • Batching; -weighing out of ingredients in the spice room or raw meat over the tables
  • Mixing; -assisting in pumping and packing of samples on the factory floor
  • Labelling; – Making label for products and finished goods stock control
  • Sampling; -Making up samples boxes for customer requests
  • Cooking; – cooking off samples for assessment (internally and with customer)
  • Stock check of NPD ingredients, highlight when we are low, add to procurement tracker
  • Ensure retained samples are frozen down, manage frozen stocks, highlight when retained close to depletion
  • Cost saving projects – produce bench samples
  • Conduct blind benchmarking as required
  • Add ingredients specs to the internal recipe system, ensure pricing is added
  • Assist stage & gate process tech with cooking validations, instructions generation, QAS
  • Manage gate 4 samples & timescales with guidance from NPD Manger
  • Be aware of critical path timelines
  • Test cutter guides and get sign off from production & procurement and ensure factory compatibility
  • Set up Transit Trial, assess new boxes as being fit for purpose
  • Co-ordinate pre-production trials in conjunction with NPD Manager and production
  • Recipe development, start to understand what goes into development of new ideas, recipes and ranges
  • Generation and presentation of customer review documents
  • Innovation visits (targeted trips which are brief specific)
  • Category incite understanding (with the marketing department)
  • Customer reviews and presentation (assisting initially and within 6 months, to manage a review and present products and supporting documentation)
  • Start to build and manage relationships with customers
  • Own and manage your own project – for which you will be the sole point of contact
  • Work on interdepartmental skills (in particular with commercial and technical for development presentations and then with process and production for launches)

The Person

Essential:

  • Currently in second year of a food related course.
  • Flexible, adaptable and the ability to work in dynamic, fast-paced environment managing multiple tasks daily.
  • Exceptional organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability working with employees at all levels in the organisation and across all functions.
  • Full Driving License and access to transport for travel.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK, during 12 month placement.
