Reporting To: NPD Manager

Role Overview: Assist in the development and implementation of new and existing products through all stages of the stage-gate process, including development of kitchen recipes and scale up to factory production.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Research & log new product ideas, trends & competitor activity on project briefs.
  • Prepare kitchen samples and assist in product submissions to customers including coordinating initial specifications with the technical team and completing required sample submission forms.
  • Liaise with production to book trial time on the line, organise raw materials and assist with any factory trials and line produced samples as required.
  • Raise new codes and prepare all relevant documentation throughout the critical path.
  • Attend all first production of new products, ensuring handover to production team and all paperwork is complete.
  • Completion of nutritional information via alacalc, and back of pack ingredient declariations.
  • Organise monthly NPD taste panels for branded and facilitate bi-weekly taste panels for key private label customers.
  • Organising NPD/New Launch samples and attending relevant Trade / PR / Marketing events as required.
  • Conduct internal audits & assist in preparation for external audits / customer visits.
  • Any other duties as required to fulfil the company needs.

EducationFood Science or related qualificationFood Science or related degree (or equivalent)  
Relevant Experience1+ years’ experience gained within a food manufacturing environment
Proven ability to multi-task within a fast moving environment   Experience in product development / research
Understanding of food nutrition  
Experience of project management work and stage-gate process
Skills and CompetenciesPassion for food within a commercially driven environment  
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills  
Computer literate  
Organisational, prioritising and planning ability  
Very strong attention to detail           
Pro-active & self-motivated  
Microsoft Project
FlexibilityFlexible approach towards working hours  
Access to a car for business use with a full driving license
