Journalist

The Irish Field have a vacancy for a journalist.

Required to join the editorial team on a fixed term contract. This is a rare opportunity to work with Ireland’s only newspaper dedicated to racing and equestrian sports.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Generate unique content for The Irish Field, focusing on horse management topics
• Editing content for all sections of The Irish Field and other group publications
• Attending racing/sport horse industry events on behalf of The Irish Field.

The ideal candidate should have:

• Third level qualification in equine sties, journalism, or other relevant discipline
• A portfolio of published articles on an equine theme
• A proven ability to write copy to a high standard and work within strict deadlines
• A flair for multimedia reporting with a creative approach to storytelling
• A working knowledge of the thoroughbred racing, breeding and sport horse sectors
• Social media experience and a willingness to learn how to produce in-house promotional e-newsletters and short videos
• The flexibility to work in our Dublin office as well as from home, as required
• An ability to work evenings or at the weekend, if required
