Dundonald Nurseries Wholesale are currently recruiting for a Horticultural Supervisor, to lead a planting team to produce our added value range, which consists of an extensive range of planted containers, window boxes and hanging baskets.

Key responsibilities

  • Designing planted containers that are cost-effective and value for money, while still being appealing to the eye and maintaining a high quality of product.
  • Working with the sales team to create a monthly plan of tubs, to ensure variety for customers, as well as keeping in touch with seasonal trends. This will be reviewed on a monthly basis and communicated to the team to ensure a uniformed approach.
  • Liaise with the shed team to ensure they have a list of tubs to fill, which corresponds with the monthly plan of tubs and current selling trends.
  • Liaise with he shed team to push tough old stock and end of line products.
  • Ensure that plants to be used for planting containers are picked efficiently and to a high quality. This needs to be planned in advance, so as not to slow down the planting line and also take into account which plants are currently available.
  • Plant sample containers at Mother’s Day and Christmas, to be photographed for the brochure, and ensuring these sample arrangements are followed when planting the containers for these seasons.
  • Encourage and develop new members of the team, to ensure they are brought up to speed as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  • Ensure all planted containers are planted to the highest quality, are priced and passported correctly and watered in at the end of the day.
  • Keep work area around planting bench clean and tidy and ensure that exceptional levels of housekeeping are enforced within the glasshouse area at Gransha, in line with the company standards.

Team Leadership

  • Ensure that your team members are working efficiently and effectively to complete the task at hand and are aware of their duties and tasks they should be completing daily.
  • Make sure you and your team prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Ensure you and your team adhere to the Dundonald Nurseries Group policies.
  • Keep management updated on team performance and communicate any concerns.
  • You may be asked to carry out other duties as required.

Salary will be dependent on experience and will be discussed at interview.
