Salary: £28-30,000 + Company Car + OTE

Reporting to: Head of Sales, Hygeia Chemicals 
Location: Hybrid: Field-based / Working from Home 

Hygeia is a leading player in the Irish market with an extensive range of Agricultural, Garden care and Veterinary products which it markets and distributes from its headquarters in Galway. Products include grassland crop protection products, fertilizers, feeds, biocides and weed control sheep dip and animal health products. 

Summary of role: 

Reporting directly to the Head of Sales, you will have full responsibility for the identification, development and management of all client relationships and sales in Northern Ireland and the Donegal area. 

With previous field sales experience, preferably with a horticultural or agricultural background, you will deliver an exceptionally high standard of service to customers at all levels, ensuring expectations are always exceeded. Key activities and responsibilities: 

  • Customer retention, recruitment, and market development through building win-win partnerships 
  • Present products and services to prospective / existing customers 
  • Continually meet or exceed sales expectations in line with the company’s budget and strategic growth plans 
  • Conduct market research to identify and grow new market opportunities 
  • Provide timely and accurate forecasts and sales updates to Senior Management as required while contributing to the development of strategic business plans 
  • Prepare and develop pricing structures and sales strategies for core areas of the business 
  • Ensure Point-of-Sales (POS) marketing materials and displays are in line with company branding, contribute to an engaging customer experience and promote instore sales. 
  • Collection and debtor management 
  • Contribute on a regular basis to the NPD process to improve and develop the product offering 

Essential criteria: 

  • Sales professional with a minimum of 3 years experience, preferably in a field sales role 
  • Strong interest or background in horticulture and/or agriculture 
  • Demonstrable previous experience in meeting or exceeding sales and revenue targets 
  • Exceptional communicator (written and verbal) at all levels and competent in use of Microsoft Office Packages 
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships 
  • Independent, self-driven individual with strong organisational skills and ability to multi-task and manage own workload 

Preference may be given to applicants who have: 

  • 3rd level qualification in a related subject 
  • Knowledge/background in farming or previous experience selling into garden centres 

Special circumstances 

  • Ability to attend monthly visits at Galway Head Office 
  • Ability to attend customer meetings across Northern Ireland and Donegal as required 
  • Valid, Clean Driving License
