Gardener

Due to expansion in our gardens, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate, and self-motivated gardener to join our team. At Montalto, the public have access to over 30 acres of gardens, including a fruit garden, a winter garden, a summerhouse garden, an alpine garden, a lake walk, woodland trails and much more.

We also have a 5-star wedding venue, The Carriage Rooms, and a historic Georgian mansion fronted by a beautiful lake. Both cater for weddings and events all year round.

The ideal candidate will have good all-round horticultural knowledge, and be able to work within our team, and also on their own. They should have a ‘can-do attitude’, and be of a friendly and professional nature. The candidate should also have training and experience in the industry.

The role will entail all aspects of estate maintenance, and require high horticultural standards. We are looking for a detail focused individual, who wants to be part of enhancing the image of the estate. The person will be responsible for maintaining a safe working environment, and adhere to our health and safety standards.

As we are working with the public and interact with guests and visitors daily, we need a candidate with a friendly approachable, and engaging manner.

Essential:

• Level 1 in Horticulture (or equivalent)
• 2 years horticultural experience
• Clean driving licence
• Strong plant knowledge
• Desirable:
• Trailer licence
• PA1, PA6 and PA6W spraying certificates
• Landscaping experience
• Other relevant training e.g.: chainsaw use, tractor licence, vegetable growing etc.

Hours:

The standard working hours at Montalto Estate are, 08.00 to 16.00, Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role some flexibility will be required including working weekends, evenings and bank holidays. This will be on a rotational basis, and as is required.

Package:

Rate of pay = £11.00 to £12.00 per hour
