Salary: The minimum hourly rate will be £12.00 but we are willing to pay more per hour for the correct applicant
Hours: 32 hours per week
Work Hours: Monday – Thursday, 9am – 5pm

Camowen Farmers Combined Ltd are a social enterprise not for profit organisation based in The Milestone Centre, Carrickmore, Omagh and are governed by a board of directors. Camowen Farmers Group have just over 250 members and a client base of over 1500 clients. Camowen Farmers complete all types of Agricultural forms, Complete all types of Farm Records, Complete and Submit VAT, Nitrates and Derogation records. We provide Information evenings over the winter months with informative speakers. We provide relevant training for Farmers to enable their compliance with current Regulations. We provide one to one support, tailored for the individual farmer in an empathetic and confidential manner.

Job Duties:

  • To support and report to the Management of Camowen Farmers and their staff
  • Work as part of the existing team
  • Assist with completion of all types of agricultural paperwork
  • Liaise with farmers and their families
  • Liaise with statutory bodies e.g. Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, Northern Ireland Environmental Agency and other bodies.
  • Communicate with other professionals  e.g Accountants and solicitors
  • Deal with delicate family matters in a professional and confidential manner.
  • Assist with farm visits to undertake audits of the farmyard, lands and facilities
  • Assist with preparing records for various inspections.
  • Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the Camowen Farmers Combined membership database
  • Assist with maintaining accurate client records
  • Comply with the highest standard of confidentially in dealing with personal, business and financial issues
  • Flexibility in approach and a willingness to learn new skills and keep up to date with legislation and ever changing regulations.

Essential Criteria

  • 5 GCSE or equivalent including English and Maths
  • Hold a Qualification relevant to the Agriculture Industry
  • Have an excellent understanding of IT Packages including MS Office, internet, email
  • Have an excellent understanding of Daera Online Services
  • Must be able to work under pressure in a busy office
  • Must be flexible, as work hours at times, may change in order to meet deadlines at peak periods, this will include occasional evenings or other holiday periods.
  • Self-Motivated and Driven
  • Desire to progress within the organisation
  • Be able to work in a humorous environment, while under pressure
  • Willing  to learn new skills within an ever-changing office environment

Desirable Criteria:

  • Level 3 qualification in an Agricultural or Environmental discipline
  • 2 years’ experience in a busy office working environment
  • Experience working within an Agricultural facility
  • Experience in Completing Single Application Forms
  • An excellent understanding of current technical, economic and social issues facing farm business’s in the present climate.
  • Experience of organising meetings or information evenings
  • Experience in writing information emails for a large client base
  • Knowledge of nitrates and derogation regulations (NAP)

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate in both application and interview the following skills and abilities

  • Hold the skills necessary to co-ordinate workload and to maintain records in a busy office environment
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and with others as part of a team, practising high standards, while meeting deadlines
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and have a polite telephone manner
  • IT Competence with experience of; spreadsheets, MS Office, internet, email and Daera Online Services

  • It will be expected that the applicant will attend all relevant training sessions or up to date seminars in order to keep abreast with the changes to rules and regulations.
  • A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle is required for this post, you may be required from time to time to use your own vehicle, on these occasions you will be paid a travel allowance.
  • Hours of work are 32 hours per week, Monday – Thursday, 9am – 5pm, this will increase on occasion which may include working outside normal working hours as workloads may fluctuate.
  • Extra hours will be paid at normal hourly rate
