Grounds Maintenance Operatives – Experienced and Trainee positions

Full-Time 35-40 hours per week

Wallace Contracts NI Ltd is a local well established company seeking experienced and trainee Grounds Maintenance Operatives to join our expanding, close-knit team to complete various horticultural duties including grass cutting, weed control and hedge cutting on both hard and soft landscaped areas.

Wallace Contracts are looking to recruit new maintenance operatives to join our existing enthusiastic teams who currently provide grounds maintenance services including grass cutting, litter lifting, weed control, site clearance, hedge and shrub pruning etc to sites across all of NI. The sites covered vary in size, location, terrain and gradients and work activities continue through most weather conditions therefore a good level of physical fitness is necessary for this position.

SOME KEY TASKS INVOLVED:

• Lawn Mowing, Edging And Shaping
• Maintaining Shrub Beds/Borders / Planted Areas
• Clearing Hardscaped Areas, Carparks, Pathways, etc Of Debris
• Fulfilling All H&S Requirements
• Hedge Trimming And Shrub Pruning/Shaping, Seasonal Specific Work For Variety Of Shrubs
• Leaf Lifting And Collection
• Weed Control

ESSENTIAL FOR EXPERIENCED POSITION :

Previous experience in grounds maintenance services and ability to operate a range of horticultural equipment including ride on mowers, strimmers, hedge cutting equipment, leaf blowers etc.

• An appreciation of adhering to and good understanding of H&S policies and procedures.
• Attention to detail and ability to work to a high standard on your own with general directions from on site staff
• Planning of works to ensure the most productive use of time
• Full Driving Licence
• Landscaping: 1 year (min)
• PA1 and PA6 spraying certificates.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCED POSITION:

• Ability to tow trailers (B+E categories) – desirable
• Horticultural knowledge and qualification in horticulture related subject;

REQUIREMENTS FOR TRAINEE POSITION;

• Interest in horticulture related subjects
• Enthusiastic and willing to progress and learn new skills
• Good level of education with a minimum of Grade C in both English and Maths
• Good communication skills, and a strength in being professional is essential
• You will be happy to work outside in all weathers
• Work Alone Or As Part Of Team
