Andy is Technical Director for the Brassica Growers Association, a member of British Onions Research and Development Committee and a lecturer on a wide range of BASIS, FACTS and ARTIS courses. Andy is a specialist in all aspects of bulbs; onion, shallot, leek, garlic and horticultural brassica production and storage. 

Sharing over 35 years of agronomy experience, gained in the UK and abroad, Andy will discuss the following topics:

  • How will GB/EU approvals shape up over the next 5 years – will Northern Ireland be left behind?
  • Can Horticultural Crop Protection UK help in Northern Ireland?
  • Brassica cropping areas/trends and review of the 2023 season
  • Brassica agronomy including:
    • Weed control options – herbicide options/new approvals.  The future for robotics.
    • Pest control options/new approvals?
    • Disease control options/new approvals.
    • Clubroot – any hope for control?
