MSU students studying at CAFRE
CAFRE have been running a student exchange programme with Michigan State University (MSU) since 1996. To date over 60 CAFRE students have spent a semester studying at Michigan and 60 Michigan students have studied at CAFRE. All students (without exception) have thoroughly enjoyed participating in the exchange programme. MSU students benefit by studying in a much smaller college environment compared to MSU and getting greater opportunity to “learn by doing” through projects and practical on the excellent facilities at all three campuses.
Aim of the Student Exchange Programme
The aim of the Exchange Programme is to encourage MSU students to study full-time at CAFRE. Students can apply to either the Full Semester Programme or the Short Programme.
Full Semester Programme
Students on the Full Semester Programme study full-time at CAFRE for 12 weeks either in the autumn or spring semesters. You will enroll on modules that will contribute to your Degree or Diploma at MSU. You will be fully integrated with CAFRE students, in both academic and social activities.
Students on the Short Programme will spend 6-7 weeks at CAFRE from mid-May. This is a much more practical learning experience which will allow students to enhance their understanding of Agriculture, Horticulture, Food or Equine and related sub-disciplines, while absorbing another cultural and educational environment. Students will learn about their particular sector by working alongside college advisers and technologists as well as going on industry and cultural visits. As this programme runs at the end of the spring semester, there will be limited opportunity to meet other students.
How to apply
Anyone interested in coming to CAFRE should liaise directly with the Study Abroad office at MSU.
