Loughry Campus accommodation

The Halls of Residence is set in the heart of the campus overlooking the attractive countryside. Shannon Hall accommodates 95 students, split over three wings for both over and under 18 year old students, male and female.

Shannon Hall

Bedrooms comprise of bed, wardrobe, shelving, desk and chair, easy seat and a wash hand basin/mirror and free Wi-Fi. Toilets/showers are situated on each floor as well as a small galley kitchen equipped with a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave table and chairs.

Dining facilities

The contract catering team at Loughry offers a wide range of food options available to students, staff and visitors in our Riverside Restaurant and Coffee Dock. Offering breakfast, lunch and evening meals along with snacks throughout the day. The Catering Team can accommodate a variety of diets and food allergies so if you have a specific need please speak to a member of the team and they will be pleased to assist

The Riverside Restaurant a focal point within the Halls of Residence and is situated on the ground floor. Serving light breakfasts at the start of the day and by 10am offering freshly cooked breakfasts, scones and croissants etc. The lunch service offers soup, main course choices (including a vegetarian option), salad bar, meal deal, jacket potatoes and pasta and desserts. Our evening meals are also served in the main dining room and offer a choice main courses, vegetarian option, salad bar and dessert. Also popular during the day is The Deli Bar, situated within the main dining room and offers sandwiches, panni’s, toasties made to order with a variety of fillings

The Coffee Dock is open Monday-Friday 9.00am – 3.30pm
The Coffee Dock is situated in the Food Technology Centre and serves fresh coffee, hot chocolate, speciality teas, snacks and sandwiches. Ideal as a ‘grab and go’ lunch option the Coffee Dock serves homemade soup, pies and sausage rolls as well as hot baps ideal for those who do not wish to eat in the main dining room

Student common room

Facilities include table tennis table, pool table, flat screen smart TV, game consoles, and DVD player.

Recreation Centre

Our refurbished Recreation Centre offers a modern gym with an enhanced sound system and smart TV and indoor multi sports hall. Students are also welcome to use the new outdoor gym. All residential students also have access to the communal computer study rooms in the halls. Students will also have access to the Mid Ulster Sports Arena (Mid Ulster Council) which is a modern outdoor facility on the edge of the campus. It includes grass and all weather pitches, an endurance area incorporating a multi-use games area, a strength and conditioning room and a 1400m trim trail.

Residential Support Team

Students living in onsite accommodation will have the support of the Residential Support Team who offer advice and help in settling into campus life. Evening activities can be arranged through the Student Council or the Residential Support Team. Evening trips are organised throughout the academic year and may include visits to livestock marts, shopping trips, cinema, bowling, go-karting and outings to the local leisure centre. The Residential Support Team will run evening workshops to help you develop your skills in independent living and improve your health and well being.
