Shannon Ormandy

“I’ve always been creative and got my interest in flowers from my Dad who worked with Heemskerk, one of the large Dutch flower export companies who supply florists in Northern Ireland. After my GCSEs I got a summer job and work placement with Jayne Morris Creations in Coleraine and was accepted for the Level 2 Diploma in Floristry at Greenmount. It was a busy year studying full-time and working on placement on Fridays in the shop but I loved learning new techniques and enjoyed the customer service side of the business. I was very pleased to be asked to be a Floristry Student Ambassador and have the opportunity to demonstrate my floristry design skills to prospective students at College and represent floristry at Garden Show Ireland. Since then I went on to complete my Level 3 Diploma and compete at RHS Chelsea Flower Show. I am now managing a florist shop and thoroughly enjoying the experience.”
