I had a part time job with a local florist, Floral Creations, in Comber, while still at school. I enjoyed working with customers, and loved the buzz of the shop environment and the challenges of peak periods. My employer, Tracy Burrows, had studied floristry at Greenmount Campus and she encouraged me to apply for the full time Level 2 Diploma course. The course has given me time to concentrate on developing my design and plant care skills and I’ve also continued working in the shop on my Friday placement. Through the course I’ve also been introduced competition work and I’ve been selected to represent CAFRE in the Ireland heat of the RHS Young Chelsea Florist of the Year Competition.
