Claire McConaghy

Claire is currently Head Veterinary Nurse and Clinical Coach at Firmount Veterinary Practice in Antrim. She completed her Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing at Greenmount in 2007 and was ‘Veterinary Nurse of the Year’ in 2011.

“I have always wanted to be a veterinary nurse, from the age of seven – I just knew! My dad is a farmer and looking after animals has always played a big part in my life but I suppose watching television programmes about veterinary nurses and what they do helped me finally decide this is the right career for me. I love everything about my job especially hand rearing young animals and weight clinics for pets with diet and weight problems. I am also very involved in re-homing animals and I’ve set up a Facebook page to help do this.

Veterinary nursing is a wonderful career and I would recommend it to anyone. The courses in Greenmount are fantastic preparation and provide a sound basis to build on. I would advise anyone interested in a career in veterinary nursing to just go for it.”
