Preparing Horses for Ridden and Working Hunter Classes


CAFRE are delighted to be hosting a training evening on ridden showing classes for the upcoming showing season in collaboration with the Irish Draught Horse Society Ltd of Northern Ireland.

The training evening will take place at Portmore Equestrian Centre, Aghalee. The event will include a number of demonstration horses and riders and will include all aspects required for success in the show ring. The audience will have opportunities to assess horses and ask questions, providing participants an insight to the work required in getting horse and rider to show ring standard and to the judges expectations.

Who is the course for?

The evening is suitable for everyone wanting the opportunity to improve on their skills or be better prepared for the showing season.

Course content

The topics to be covered include:

  • Showing phase
  • Working hunter phase
  • In hand phase
  • Correct tack and turnout
  • Question and answers session


The training costs £10 per person.

The conference will be held at Portmore Equestrian Centre, 1 Georges Island Road, Aghalee, Lurgan, BT67 0DW, on Wednesday 20 March 2019 from 7.00pm to 9.30pm.
