Bracken is an invasive weed that can take over whole areas of land signifcantly reducing its stock carrying capacity and it also has a detrimental effect on the range of plant species meaning a reduction of biodiversity. In addition land that is infested with bracken is not eligible for the Basic Payment Scheme.
