Favourit Foods are currently seeking a Production Supervisor.

Job Title:                      Production Supervisor, Belfast

Salary:                          £20,000- £25,000 depending on experience

Location:                     Belfast, Co Antrim

Reporting to:              Technical & NPD Manager, Operations Manager

Status:                          Full-time Permanent

Hours of Work:          40 hours per week

Holidays:                     29 Days Leave (Pro rata)

Favourit Foods are one of Northern Ireland’s oldest and most respected suppliers of herbs, spices and food ingredients, customers belong to all sectors of the food industry and include large manufacturing companies, major retailers, wholesalers and the food service industry.

Job Purpose:

Plan, direct and coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for the production in accordance with allergens, cost, quality, and quantity specifications.

The Production Supervisor must ensure the team are supervised and developed by providing adequate support, training and measurements to obtain results.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Production Output:

  • Challenge targets for on time delivery, output, quality, waste and other associated KPIs;
  • Responsible for all production, quality and delivery issues;
  • Host a daily production meeting;
  • Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production outputs.
  • Ensure employees are trained in equipment operations, work and safety procedures;
  • Review all orders to determine production requirements and evaluate current production estimates and outputs;
  • Work closely with the Buyer/Operations Manager to ensure ongoing availability of stock and assist in regular stock takes as required.

Team Supervision

  • Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members;
  • Provide guidance and direction to team members including setting performance standards;
  • In conjunction with the Operations Manager, conduct team member appraisals and create personal development plans;
  • Keep records of employees’ attendance and hours worked;
  • Manage all sickness and holidays;
  • Ensure all colleagues are supervised effectively to achieve daily targets on production;

Customer Service

  • Have a well-rounded understanding of business requirements and the impact production has on overall profitability;
  • Liaise with customers on their production requirements and schedules as required.
  • Understand the importance of customer service and the company culture relating to meeting customers’ expectations and supervise the team effectively to ensure this is achieved.

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure all team members comply with the operational standards set by SALSA at all times;
  • Assist the Technical and NPD Manager to ensure the site and team are prepared for and meet the standards required for a successful audit;
  • Assist the Technical Manager with continuous improvement of quality system procedures to meet the targets set for customer service and product quality;
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Ensure the team consistently meet and exceed both food and allergen safety procedures;
  • Ensure the production paperwork is completed and recorded accurately and correctly.
  • Manage effective housekeeping within all areas of the site in line with company standards;

Health & Safety

  • Ensure all team members comply with all PPE requirements;
  • Ensure all team members comply with the Health & Safety standards.
  • Support the Operations Manager in the completion of risk assessments;

Other tasks:

  • Requisition materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services as required.
  • Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job;
  • Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably;
  • Any other reasonable task as required.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum 1 year hands on experience in a production supervisory role.
  • Excellent leadership skills with ability to supervise a variety of cross functional team members;
  • Excellent communication skills across a variety of media – verbal, written, presentation;
  • Competent in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making;
  • Commercially aware;
  • Good planning, organisational and time management skills;
  • Fundamental understanding of the production process;
  • Passion for delivering excellent customer service;
  • Good general computer skills including the MS Office suite of tools.

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of Food Production.

Must be flexible to do additional hours and work bank holidays as company open.
