General Farm Assistant

Glenrath Farms is a progressive sheep and beef farm situated in the Scottish Borders, farming 15,000 acres primarily in the Scottish Borders. The business employs 15 full time employees to look after 10,000 breeding ewes and 500 suckler cows, spread over eight farms.

Hours

Full time and weekend work on rota, additional hours will be required during busy periods such as calving and lambing. You will be required to have a can do will do attitude.

Role

Glenrath Farms are looking for a positive and enthusiastic assistant to work within a team of three based on our farm near West Linton. The farm is home to 2500 ewes, 250 suckler cows and a few free-range hens. Previous experience and working dog would be beneficial but not essential.

Tasks to be carried out with in this role include feeding, checking and bedding livestock, lambing, calving, shearing (previous experience would be beneficial but not essential) carrying out our vet and med program (vaccinating, worming, administrating victims), foot bathing, weighing lambs and a small amount of tractor.

Hourly Rate

£10-£13 per hour. Accommodation provided. A two bedroom flat situated 24 miles from Edinburgh airport.
