Coopon Carse Farm is the UK based dairy farm of the international Koepon organization, headquartered in the Netherlands, with other dairy units in both the Netherlands and Germany. In total, the Koepon dairy enterprise milks approximately 2,000 cows.

Coopon Carse Farm in Newton Stewart (260Ha) has 450 milking cows with a further 380 followers. Milking cows are housed all year round in modern sheds, calving all year round in purpose-built handling facilities. Throughout the summer, the majority of youngstock are grazed outside on higher ground.

Cows are milked through a newly installed sate of the art automated milking system comprising of seven Lely Astronaut A5 robots. Videos of the robots and the general farm setup can be found on our YouTube channel www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ELZlGEtdEo

Cows are fed on TMR, with grass silage and wholecrop wheat forming the key forage inputs. Additionally, fresh grass is added to the summer ration via zero grazing. Cattle activity is monitored through the robots and by using Cow-Watch for the youngstock. Striving for improved animal welfare is always at the core of our production aspirations.

Annual average milk production is 11,500kg – with excellent reproductive and health status.

For this progressive dairying unit, we are looking to employ a Head Dairyperson

• The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the robots, A.I. of cows and youngstock, manage all husbandry/veterinary care for herd and deal with all paperwork/data capture of all relevant information.
• Ideally, the successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience of working on a dairy unit, including A.I., foot trimming and livestock healthcare. Experience with robots is not necessary as full training will be provided. The successful candidate would work as part of a team of 6 staff and would liaise closely with the Farm Manager and other staff. This would be an ideal position for someone with a real passion for dairy cows.
• We offer a competitive remuneration package, pension scheme and a 35 days annual leave entitlement. Additionally, all staff work on an on-off weekend rotation. Housing can be supplied with a modern 3 bedroom house available.

This is a full time permanent position. Salary will be in the region of £35,000 – £40,000 per year based upon experience.
