Move your career in the right direction – study Food at CAFRE

The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) invites students who are receiving examination results this August to consider following a career in Food.

Working in partnership with Ulster University, CAFRE offers BSc Honours Degrees in Food Technology, Food Innovation and Nutrition and Food Business Management. For students looking for an alternative higher education course we also deliver a Foundation Degree in Food Manufacture and Nutrition.

Perhaps you missed the UCAS application deadline earlier in the year or will receive grades different from those expected, don’t panic as you can still apply. It’s acceptable to reconsider your original offers and seek alternative courses more suited to you. You can now apply through UCAS Clearing to secure a place on a food degree course at CAFRE – Loughry Campus.

UCAS Clearing 2021 is currently open for new applications, but most Clearing places won’t become available until results are released on Tuesday 10th August 2021.

To coincide with the release of examination results this summer we will be hosting campus tours of Loughry Campus from Tuesday 10th August starting at 11am with dates and times available to book through to Friday 13th August at 2pm. To secure your place on a tour click here.

CAFRE, Course Manager Dr Gillian Stevenson commented;

“For many their final year at school was disrupted and we have spoken to a number of students who really aren’t sure what direction they want their degree study to take. Rather than making a wrong decision and regretting it later we suggest students use their time to research courses of interest to them. Each year we meet students who have held off applying through UCAS until they have their examination results. The UCAS Clearing application process is straightforward. We are offering late applicants the opportunity to visit the campus and see around the fabulous food facilities we have at Loughry Campus. There’s no better way to consolidate your ideas than by seeing around and experiencing the atmosphere of the college for yourself. Tours of the campus are being offered from Tuesday 10th August through to Friday 13th August, but you must book online to attend.”

If you know someone who would be interested in studying on a Degree programme with CAFRE who hasn’t already applied the opportunity still exists to apply through UCAS Clearing.

CAFRE – Loughry Campus also delivers BTEC Level 3 National Diploma qualifications in Food Science and Manufacturing Technology and Food Nutrition and Health. Level 3 courses offer an alternative to A-Level study with modules being continually assessed throughout the duration of the two year programme. On completion of a Level 3 course students may have the opportunity to progress on to higher level degree study.
