Are you looking to start or currently own an equine business? Whether you’re running a livery yard, riding school, breeding operation, racing yard, or offering advisory services to equine professionals, this event is tailored for you! It offers a valuable opportunity for both those managing horses directly and those providing advice or related services like veterinary care or welfare.

Overview

This two-day course is designed to provide Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for professionals in the equine industry. The days are spread out over two months, providing time for reflection and application between sessions, and allowing participants to network with peers.

Programme

Day 1: 10:00am – 3:30pm

Session 1: Advances in parasite management

  • Explore why parasite testing is a progressive solution for your yard.
  • Learn how, when, and what tests to use for effective parasite management.
  • Develop a strategic parasite management plan tailored to your facility.

Session 2: Productive land management and carbon footprint reduction

  • Understand effective land management techniques to maintain pasture health and support equine needs.
  • Learn about carbon efficiency principles and how to create a plan to minimise your yard’s environmental impact.

Day 2: 10:00am – 3:30pm

Session 1: Equine business solutions

  • Gain insights into financial management to enhance the efficiency of your business.
  • Learn planning strategies to future-proof your equine business.

Session 2: Facility setup for health, behaviour, and welfare

  • Optimise your facilities to promote equine health and well-being.
  • Use insights into natural equine behaviours to create a yard layout that supports horse welfare and comfort.

Cost: Attendance is £15 for both days and will include coffee/tea on arrival and a light lunch. Places are limited so early booking is essential.
