Environmental Farming Scheme (EFS): Managing a Traditional Orchard

01 Feb 2022

Online - Webex

Tuesday 1st February, 7.00pm

The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) are hosting an online information session on managing a traditional orchard. The event aims to demonstrate how and when to prune trees of different ages as well as how to maintain soil fertility and general tree health.

The session will be based on video footage taken in the orchard at Loughry College.  This Orchard has a range of trees from 5 – 50 years old, and these trees display many of the issues that you would encounter in a Traditional Orchard on a farm.

There will be the opportunity to ask questions during the meeting and this will be explained at the beginning of the meeting. You can also email questions in advance to Robert Beggs at robert.beggs@daera-ni.gov.uk. All questions will be answered by the panel during the meeting.

During the meeting, your camera will be off and you will be on mute. Please join the meeting early to avoid any technical difficulties or delays in joining.

Panel:
Robert Beggs

Robert Beggs, Biodiversity Technologist, CAFRE
