CAFRE in partnership with the The British Horse Society are hosting a training day aimed at those interested in finding out more about The British Horse Society professional qualifications and career path opportunities.
The training day is free of charge, however, lunch costs £6 per person and must be pre-booked and paid.
This training day counts as 6 CPD points for the BHS Accredited Professional Coach Register and as CPD for the Pony Club.

9:30am | Registration and welcome (tea & coffee) |
10:00am | What are The British Horse Society Professional Qualifications? Why are they of great benefit to you? How can you transfer from the Pony Club tests? Introduction from Sam York – My Career to date.Interaction and discussion with other BHS Coaches |
10.30am | Let’s look at Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 Riding on the Flat – Sam York, FBHS Equestrian Performance Coach What is involved in each of the Stages assessments on the Flat?What standard is required for each? Riders and horses will be used to demonstrate. |
11.30pm | The Art of Good Lungeing and Long Reining – Sam York FBHS)/BHS Coaches Why do we do it? What are the benefits? What are the skills for doing it well? Where does it fit within the BHS Stages Assessments? Demonstration and discussion. |
12.30pm | Break for lunch Lunch must be pre-booked and paid for in advance. Soup and sandwiches – £6 per person. |

About Sam York FBHS
Sam York, FBHS Equestrian Performance Coach
Sam is a passionate and highly motivated equestrian coach, she coaches at all levels in all three disciplines, she is praised for her innovative and creative approach to facilitating learning with an infectious energy and an overwhelming ability to inspire and install great confidence into all her clients and their horses. She takes great pride in supporting riders both on and off their horses and has a very holistic approach to her coaching and mentoring of all her clients old and new.
Sam holds over 30 years of experience of breeding, producing, and competing horses in all three disciplines. Sam has competed at top level eventing and represented her country at European level. Riding professionally gives Sam a great empathy for producing horses of all types and abilities and helps her to support her riders of all levels in all three disciplines.
Sam is a BHS lead assessor and has been heavily involved in the development of the BHS assessments. Sam also sits on the BHS training and education board and has first hand experience and knowledge in most aspects of the BHS. Preparation for all BHS stages, in all sections both on-line training and offline training in person.
