Updated Advice on COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

CAFRE continues to respond to the developing COVID-19 situation in line with the Public Health Agency (PHA) and the Northern Ireland Executive.

Higher Education and Postgraduate Courses All face-to-face teaching of Higher Education (HE) and Postgraduate courses at CAFRE campuses have ceased in line with the decision made by Queens University Belfast and Ulster University. Delivery of learning materials will continue remotely for your courses commencing on Monday 23 March 2020. You will be contacted by your Programme Manager with further details. it is therefore very important that you regularly check you CAFRE emails and Moodle.  You should organise to vacate your accommodation at the College and remove personal belongings from your rooms as soon as possible.

Further Education CoursesFollowing the decision made by Edwin Poots, DAERA Minister, all face-to-face teaching of Further Education (FE) courses at CAFRE campuses have now ceased. Delivery of learning materials will continue remotely for your courses commencing on Monday 23 March 2020. Your programme manager will contact you with further details, including arrangements for remote delivery. It is therefore very important that you regularly check your CAFRE emails and Moodle. You should organise to vacate your accommodation at the College and remove personal belongings from your rooms as soon as possible.

Information for CAFRE Residential StudentsDue to the cessation of face-to-face delivery of courses at CAFRE, all students residing in College accommodation will be refunded in respect of their accommodation charges for the remaining weeks of the semester.

Students who have already paid their accommodation invoice for the second semester will receive a refund via a cheque in due course.
For students who have not yet paid their accommodation invoice, the amount due will be adjusted accordingly and you will receive details of this in due course, therefore please ignore any reminder letters that you may receive at this stage.

The College will endeavour to process repayments and amend invoices as early as is practicable.

CAFRE Open DaysThe CAFRE Open Days that were planned for March and April have been postponed. However, if you are interested in applying for a CAFRE course, please continue to apply online and we will be processing applications as normal.

Knowledge Transfer and Industry Training Delivery of all Knowledge Transfer schemes and Industry Training are postponed from 18 March 2020 and will be rearranged for a future date. This includes:

  • Business Development Groups (BDGs)
  • Farm Family Key Skills (FFKS) – Responsible Use of Antimicrobials (AMR), First Aid and Coping with Pressures of Farming
  • Farm Innovation Visits (FIVs)
  • Technology Demonstration Farms (TDFs)
  • Industry Training Short Courses 
  • Conference, seminars and other Knowledge Transfer events.
