Efficient Nutrition of Crops
What is expected of a TDF Host?
To host a minimum of 8 groups of visiting farmers and provide a demonstration of the specified technologies.
What should the Host expect in return?
- Technical support from a CAFRE Technologist
- IT and other equipment to support the delivery of demonstrations
- A Support Assistant to assist at each visit
- A £600 payment per demonstration hosted
To become a technology demonstration farm for this theme, applicants must be able to demonstrate the following innovative technologies:
- Soil Nutrient Management Plan
Uses soil sampling results to create a fertilisation plan, detailing appropriate fertiliser types and application rates on a field by field basis compliant with NAP Regulations.
- Organic manures nutrient analysis
Demonstrate testing of nutrient content of organic manures applied to arable land.
- Yield recording
Grain yield recording on a per field basis.
Applicants may be shortlisted based on being able to demonstrate the use of the following technologies:
- Precision soil sampling
Frequency of soil sampling. Fields sub-divided based on either EC scanning or grid pattern, to produce soil fertility maps and variable nutrient application plans.
- Variable rate application of inorganic P&K fertiliser
Utilising GPS guidance to vary the rate of P&K fertiliser applied according to a variable application plan.
- Variable rate lime application
Utilising GPS guidance to vary the rate of lime applied according to a variable application plan.
