The Knowledge Transfer (KT) programmes are managed and delivered by the Knowledge Advisory Service within CAFRE and directly contribute to DAERA’s objective of promoting ‘sustainability at the heart of a living, working, active landscape valued by everyone’.
Business Sustainability Groups
CAFRE’s Business Sustainability Groups will help farmers collaborate, share knowledge, and improve economic and environmental sustainability. Supported by a CAFRE Adviser, members benefit from benchmarking, analytical testing, and one to one support.
Supporting Agri Professionals Programme
The Supporting Agri Professionals Programme provides training to help agricultural professionals enhance their technical knowledge.
Soil Nutrient Health Scheme Training
The objective of the Soil Nutrient Health Scheme (SNHS) is to test all, or the vast majority, of fields used for farming in Northern Ireland, in order to help farmers manage their nutrient applications. Training is now available to assist farmers utilise their Soil Nutrient Health Scheme soil analysis results.
Suckler Cow Fertility Themed Group
CAFRE will soon be launching a Themed Group focused on Suckler Cow Fertility linked to the Beef Sustainability Package. This short-term initiative (up to two years) will help farmers enhance herd fertility through knowledge sharing, mentoring, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
B.E.E.F. Themed Group
B.E.E.F. Themed Group will help farmers focus on reducing age at slaughter in line with the DAERA Beef Carbon Reduction Scheme, increase resilience on farm and avail of mentoring and peer to peer learning on farm.
Innovation Visits
Innovation Visits (IVs), provide farmers with the opportunity to visit farm businesses outside Northern Ireland to learn about new innovations.
Innovation Farms
Innovation Farms provide farmers the opportunity to visit farms which are demonstrating sustainable innovative practices.
