Performance Quality Standards (PQS) for sports turf surfaces

This short course is aimed at supervisors and managers of natural sports turf surfaces in a range of sports. The course aims to develop management skills in the measurement and evaluation of data collected from natural surfaces intended for sporting activity at public recreational and competitive levels.

Course Content

Levels of Performance Quality Standards; playing quality standards and impacts on presentational quality;  ground cover, bare areas, desirable grass species, height of cut, weeds, moss, algae and lichen, root depth, thatch, rooting medium, evenness, gradient, pests, diseases, infiltration rate; appearance, markings, furniture and equipment, surface debris, and sward colour; vertical ball bounce, traction, ball roll, hardness.
