Introduction to Common Equine Ailments Online

CAFRE will be delivering the online course Common Equine Ailments, in February/March 2023. The course will be delivered completely online over a four week period commencing on 27th February. There will also be online discussion groups, quizzes and additional reading sources to assist learning. Participants can access the lectures at a time and place which suits them during the scheduled course.

Who is the course for?

This course will provide participants with good basic knowledge of common equine ailments and is suitable for anyone who manages horses or has an interest in equine health, including private owners, small scale breeders, animal welfare officers, leisure riders and non-equine vet nurses.

Course content

This course will cover the following topics with the purpose of providing participants with basic understanding and the ability to recognise common health conditions as this is an integral part to owning and/or working with horses.

  • Common Equine Health Conditions
  • Common Equine Diseases
  • Common Equine Injuries
  • Common Equine Skin Conditions and Wounds
Assessment

Knowledge will be assessed using online tests as participants work through the presentations.
