CAFRE will be delivering the online course Advances in Equine Parasite Management. The course will be delivered completely online over a four-week period. The learning materials are prerecorded and there will also be online discussion groups, quizzes and additional reading sources to assist learning. Participants can access the lectures at a time and place which suits them during the scheduled course.

Course content

This course will cover the following topics with the purpose of providing participants with an understanding of equine anthelmintic drug classes, efficacy and current research on the progressing topic of anthelmintic resistance. Participants will identify different parasite monitoring techniques and outline how grassland management can contribute to parasite control.

  • Define equine anthelmintic resistance and potential impacts.
  • Identify and discuss anthelmintic drug classes.
  • Evaluate equine parasite monitoring techniques.
  • Evaluate the impact of grassland management practices on parasite control

Assessment

Knowledge will be assessed using online tests as participants work through the presentations.
