Irwin Farm Supplies (IFS) is hiring a Sales Specialist. IFS is a family-owned business based in Eglish, Co. Tyrone, convenient to M1.  The business has been trading for over 25 years and has grown significantly of latter years.  They are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to join their team who can interact in a friendly manner and make our customer experience great.

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of sustainable growth within Irwin Farm Supplies relating to Equine America and other leading equine brands.

This role involves pro-actively engaging with clients (both retailers and customers) face-to-face as well as via telephone and email.  Forging and developing effective working relationships with clients, providing guidance and assistance, and promoting products to best meet client needs.

This is a full time position, 40 hours per week with flexibility required around weekend and evening work.  The role is primarily field based so the ability to travel across Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland is essential. 

Key responsibilities and duties
  • Responsible for actively and professionally managing the entire sales cycle from lead generation, lead management, arranging appointments, preparing proposals and presentations, negotiating and closing the deal.
  • Responsible and accountable for the delivery of Net Sales, Profit and Profitability targets through the development and implementation of key account, sales, marketing and commercial strategies.  These will be agreed by the line manager.
  • Deliver growth of sales throughout Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland.
  • Secure additional sales through ancillary products required within the equine environment. Ensure alignment to company targets covering both the portfolio of existing accounts and new accounts secured within the financial year.
  • Identifying trends, requirements, and insights within the equine industry.
  • Accountable to proactively plan weekly and monthly work schedules to achieve agreed sales, marketing, objectives, targets, policies, and standards.
  • Build and maintain your own new business acquisition pipeline for Irwin Farm Supplies.
  • Following leads to establish new client relationships and continuous development of existing customer relationships.
  • Demonstrate a strong sales agility with the ability to manage a range of customers, ensuring the customers are attracted by the strength of the solution, and not just the quality of a product range.
  • Ensures the CRM system operated by Irwin Farm Supplies is updated and refreshed in-line with agreed targets and timelines.
  • Support the Store Manager will the execution of any projects or targeted sales approaches to help growth of Irwin Farm Supplies, for example, this might materialise as exhibitions, trade shows or marketing campaign follow-ups.
  • Any other duties as may be required.
Required criteria
  • Previous account management / sales experience (business to business and business to customer);
  • A strong knowledge and understanding of the Equine Industry in UK and Ireland and its different sectors.
  • GCSE English & Maths (Grade C or above) or equivalent;
  • Positive attitude and approach, highly motivated to achieve sale targets/KPIs;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels;
  • Ability to demonstrate competence using MS packages in particular Outlook, Word and Excel;
  • Ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team;
  • Proven experience in delivering projects from conception to completion;
  • Good organisational skills and ability to proactively manage and prioritise a busy workload;
  • Accuracy in work and high attention to detail;
  • Due to the nature of the role, a valid clean driving licence is essential.
Desired criteria
  • Equine related qualification, including equine nutrition.
