Full-time permanent Gardener and temporary seasonal (August 21 – April 22) Gardener required.
About the role
Two exciting opportunities have arisen to join our enthusiastic team of Gardeners at Hillsborough Castle. There is one permanent ‘Established’ post, and one ‘Temporary’ post (Aug 2021 – April 2022). Please make clear in your application which of the posts your would like to apply for.
In this role you will help to maintain and develop the wonderful gardens of Hillsborough Castle. The grounds of Hillsborough have been recently undergone major work to develop the horticulture excellence and enhance the beauty of this site and this year new children’s trails have been installed.
This role will require a passion for working in the horticulture industry. Applicants must be able to provide the highest level of garden and estate maintenance also while maintaining a safe, clean and secure working environment.
About you
If you have a positive, proactive, and enthusiastic attitude then this is the role for you. Applicants for this role will be supporting the rest of the Gardens and Estates team, taking on a variety of different tasks. Working in a small team and with a keen eye for detail you will have a passion for gardening in prestigious gardens; a professional all round knowledge of garden maintenance tasks; and an understanding of what it means to provide a 5 Star service to our visitors.
The gardens are varied including topiary, lawn care, shrubberies, herbaceous borders, and a kitchen garden. The successful candidate will be positive, team focused and competent in using a range of horticultural machinery, for example hedge trimmers, lawn mowers and strimmers.
You must already hold or be working towards a horticulture qualification. Salary will depend on qualification/experience.
This role involves working weekends and Bank holidays.
