Gardener

A private residence is seeking a gardener on a part-time basis with a requirement to work on the property for at least a couple years.  The property is located near the coast in Ballygally, Larne.  This is a new built home and garden, and we are trying to establish a superb garden in a lovely setting overlooking the Antrim Coast Road. It is an opportunity for an enthusiastic person to be involved in creating a garden at an early stage of its development, and to be part of the ongoing upkeep of its maintenance. It is a domestic property and your employer would be a private citizen.

Job description

This is a garden that is part complete, therefore the input from prospective candidates are warmly welcomed. The role will cover a wide variety of duties including Grass-cutting, strimming, weeding, weed-killer application, planting of trees/shrubs/plants, ground preparation (digging/rotavating), drainage prep., as well as other duties.  

Desirable criteria

The candidate would ideally be resourceful (the ability to see something that should be addressed without being told to do it – e.g., if a potted plant has been blown over, to set it upright), reliable (e.g., to turn up at a regular agreed time if one has been agreed), a love of gardening.  Must be able to work off own initiative.  

Essential criteria

• PA1 & PA6 certificates
• Driving license
• CSR card
