Reynolds Farm is an 800-acre dairy farm located on just on the Eastern edge of Belfast (BT16 1TX).
The farm consists of:
- 300 cow autumn calving herd, paddock grazing, averaging 9500 litres per cow
- Twice daily milking through a fully automated 24:48 Dairy master parlour
- Modern facilities including Bobman cubicle management, robotic scraper, heat-detection collars, automatic calf feeding, colostrum pasteuriser
- All young stock reared on site
- 500kW anaerobic digester
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
Applicants should have the following qualities:
- Experience of all aspects of dairy cow management, including: Milking heat detection, diet-feeding, calving and health monitoring
- General knowledge of animal husbandry
- Experience in calf and young stock rearing
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
It would be desirable for applicants to be able to demonstrate some or all of the following
- Knowledge or experience of the day-to-day maintenance of dairy equipment and other farm machinery
- Knowledge or experience of grassland management
- Knowledge or experience of computerised record keeping for livestock enterprises
- Experience in tractor driving
OUTLINE OF DUTIES:
Working in a team of five, duties include:
- Milking twice daily
- Day-to-day stock work associated with the efficient running of the livestock enterprises
- Dry stock management
- Calf feeding
- Occasional tractor work
- Input to herd-management decision making
- Night checks as required
- Assistance with other farm and estate management operations as required
RENUMERATION:
- Expected full time salary to be £25,000 to £30,000 pa
- Semi-detached four-bedroom house available on farm
- Flexible working hours will apply
- Holidays are in line with the Agricultural Wages Board, currently 29 days including bank holidays
- The applicant must be prepared to work outside normal working hours, at weekends and on public holidays when required
- This is a permanent and full-time position with the possibility of career progression within this long- established business
