CAFRE launches new water quality training for Agri Professionals

March 5, 2026

CAFRE recently delivered the first sessions of water quality training at Greenmount Campus. The new programme is designed to provide support to Agri-Professionals to assist in the protection of Northern Ireland’s waterways.

The training has been developed to provide those working directly with farmers with a better understanding of the challenges faced by the agriculture industry. It provides clear, practical guidance by strengthening knowledge and promoting best practice to drive positive changes at farm level.

Commenting on the training, Don Morrow, CAFRE said, “The training looks at the increasing importance of sustainable land management. We discuss practical steps farmers can take to protect water bodies, including improved nutrient planning, precision application techniques, and measures to reduce diffuse pollution.”

As part of the Sustainable Agriculture Programme (SAP), the Supporting Agri-Professionals Programme focuses on professional development, technical expertise, and practical assistance aimed at equipping advisers, consultants, and other industry professionals with information to share with farm businesses with whom they interact.
