Limavady Arable Farmer recommends joining a BSG

May 15, 2025

Time is running out to apply to be a member of the new College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) led Business Sustainability Groups (BSGs) for farmers.

James Wray, an arable farmer from Myroe, Limavady, has already applied. He felt that he benefited from being a member of the previous Business Development Group programme, taking part in a Combinable Crops Group. James commented, “My business gained from discussions with other farmers within the group and technical input from CAFRE staff. Specialist speakers brought in to discuss topics of special interest were a great benefit.”

James also pointed out that “arable farming can be a lonely job, and the group provided a good opportunity to meet and discuss issues with other likeminded farmers”.

The application period closes on Monday 19 May at 4.00pm. Applications to join a Business Sustainability Group can be made through this link. Applicants must be members of a DAERA business and over 18 years of age.
