Study Food at CAFRE … you won’t regret it!

July 13, 2021

My name is Rachel Black and I am from Portrush. I am currently studying a Level 3 Diploma in Food at the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE), Loughry Campus.

The Level 3 programmes on offer at CAFRE really appealed to me so I visited the college on and Open Evening. Once there I knew that I wanted to study at Loughry Campus after my GCSEs.

I heard about CAFRE and their food programmes from a friend. With my strong interest in food and nutrition, I was excited to find a study pathway that offered me the opportunity to develop my knowledge in these areas.

I am really enjoying my course at CAFRE. I thoroughly enjoyed all the practical work we had the opportunity to engage in when we were able to study on campus. I am looking forward to my second year and the chance for more practical, hands-on learning.

There are a lot of benefits to studying at CAFRE. For me it’s studying a vocational qualification that is focused on a career in the agri-food industry.

When I complete my Level 3 Diploma, I would like to study for an Honours Degree. CAFRE offer Honours Degrees, validated by Ulster University. I will be able to continue studying food and nutrition at a higher level at Loughry.

I advise anyone who is interested in pursuing a career in Food to ‘come and study at CAFRE … you won’t regret it’.

If you are considering your options after GCSE, visit our course pages to find out more about our Level 3 Food courses. The courses are an attractive alternative to A-Level study. Graduates may progress on to Higher Education or enter employment.

We are still accepting food course applications for September 2021 entry, delivered at Loughry Campus, Cookstown. Apply for a course.
