Industry Bursaries of £17,000 awarded to CAFRE Food Students

Seventeen students from higher education Food degree courses at the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) were awarded industry bursaries of £1,000 each at the recent Food Bursary Awards ceremony held at CAFRE’s Loughry Campus.

The Bursary programme at CAFRE continues to grow from strength to strength and students at Loughry Campus benefited from a total bursary fund of £17,000 this year. Many of the bursaries also include a placement experience with the industry sponsor which really helps to provide CAFRE students with a competitive edge.

Speaking at the event Martin McKendry, CAFRE Director, praised the companies and organisations who demonstrated their support for the students, saying: “These companies have shown their commitment to investing in the future development of the agri-food industry by supporting students through their education programmes with financial assistance and offering work placement opportunities.”

“Higher education is often expensive for students and their families and CAFRE is delighted that the agri-food industry is committed to supporting our young managers and leaders of the future through the provision of bursaries.”
