Entrepreneurs in Dairying – applications now open!
Entrepreneurs in Dairying course
I am writing to let you know about our successful Entrepreneurs in Dairying course – running this year at five colleges across England, Scotland and Wales. I am hoping that you could help spread the word amongst any current or past students who may be interested.
The course is a business training programme for aspiring dairy producers and with enhanced content this year will cover topics such as understanding the milk market and supply chain, people management, business planning, finance and future opportunities. Applications are welcome from people of any age with some experience of dairying from any background within or related to the industry.
We caught up with three previous participants of the course to see what a difference it had made to them and their business.
Chris North says “The time I spent [during the course] looking at farm finances, running budgets and learning about the tools needed to build a robust business plan have been essential in helping me secure the tenancy I have”.
Will Grant comments “It was great for bringing an awareness of global markets and the importance of the effect they have on what we are doing”.
Abi Reader explains “The entrepreneurs course was a good chance to stop and focus on business issues rather than mainly stockmanship and herd performance. Focusing on input costs, assessing investments and managing gross margins can often get forgotten in day to day tasks so this provided a great opportunity to shift my focus.”
All courses will be starting in September at:
Bridgwater and Taunton, Somerset
Gelli Aur, South Wales
Llysfasi, North Wales
Participants will attend six training sessions at the college including two full days on finance, plus a final two-day session at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire including a farm visit. The subsidised cost is £375 + VAT.
More information and application forms can be found at https://www.rabdf.co.uk/entrepreneurs-in-dairying The deadline for applications is 30th August but places are limited so we encourage anyone interested to apply as soon as possible.
