Parent and Guardian’s Day at CAFRE Enniskillen Campus

January 29, 2019

Parents and guardians of the Level 3 Year 2 Extended Diploma in Horse Management students were recently invited to Enniskillen Campus for an update on the progression of individual students.

Level 3 Year 2 student Amy Parr (Hilltown), gave a presentation outlining the range of modules that the students are covering in their course, and highlights of the year so far.  Visitors were then guided to the indoor arena, where Amy Gordon (Annalong), Debbie McKelvie (Ballymena), Orla Simmons (Coleraine) and Alix McConnell (Portstewart) demonstrated their riding skills assisted by Enniskillen Campus Instructor Gabriel Tunney.

Next stop was the breeding yard where Rebecca Magill (Newry), Rebecca Reddin (Dublin) and Abaigh Burke (Strabane) spoke about the work they had been doing with the mares and youngstock. Assisted by Enniskillen Campus Lecturer Gayle Moane and yard supervisor Amy Burke the students outlined their experience in the yard to date and the busy time to come once the mares begin foaling.

The day finished up with a well needed cup of tea to warm everyone up and an opportunity for an update on each student on an individual basis with their Year Manager, Arlene Doris and their Programme Manager, Shelley Stuart.  The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all present.
