NIIAS Assists with Student Interview Technique
March 26, 2018
Frances Lively (AFBI) and Daryl McLaughlin (LMC) placed Ellen Marks, Newry, in first place and James Scroggie, Armagh, in second place out of eight applicants being interviewed for the post of ‘Working Estate Manager’ in the NIIAS Job Interview Competition.
Each year the first Year BSc Agricultural Technology students compete in the Northern Ireland Institute of Agricultural Science (NIIAS) Job Interview Competition to hone their interview technique and receive developmental feedback. Students pick a single job out of four options and then apply for the post with a covering letter and CV. This is followed by an interview for the post by members of NIIAS. Students who are placed first and second in their applications for each of the four posts then receive a contribution from NIIAS towards their second year Study Tour. All students also receive detailed feedback on their performance from each NIIAS interviewer. This is an invaluable opportunity for students to experience the interview process and to reflect on how they can best present themselves in future interviews. The marks received in the process also contribute to the assessment of the first year Enterprise Technology module.
